TOPIC : THE YOUTH SERVICE AS A START TO ADULT EDUCATION

Sue, is a qualified youth worker. She is retired from the Sheffield Local Authority Youth Service and is now a voluntary development worker with the Youth Association of South Yorkshire. She was active in the Community and Youth Workers Union as Chair of their Committee on national wages and conditions and also as their President for a number of years. A tireless and passionate supporter of youth work and young people, Sue was active nationally with the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS) receiving an award as national volunteer of the year. The NCVYS has since been was killed off by the Tories after 80 years of operation. At their request, she now sits on the body for "Education and Training Standards" undertaking a role "In Defence of Youth Work".
