Our June Discussion Meeting

TOPIC :         SHAPING LABOUR'S ELECTORAL POLICIES

Andy Furlong serves on the Labour Party National Policy Forum which is dealing with the issue of "Environment, Energy and Culture : A Greener Britain".  In consultation with the membership of the Labour Party this body will help to shape Labour's policy on matters such as protecting and developing the environment, climate change, moving to the use of clean energy and tackling air pollution. This meeting will provide an opportunity for those attending to make representations to him on these and on the following additional matters.

Wider proposals can be presented by those attending because the North East Derbyshire Constituency Labour Party are also following procedures to determine the views it wishes to present via the full National Policy Forum procedure. This covers the additional areas of Education, Work, Health Services, Shaping Communities, Sustainable Development, Turning Lives Around and In-work Poverty.

Update on Sunday's Meeting

TOPIC :         SHAPING LABOUR PARTY POLICY

Dawn is a member of Labour's National Policy Forum which is helping to shape Labour's Policy for the next General Election. She will explain the procedures being pursued by the National Policy Forum and how we can all feed into its processes in order to influence the development of its policy proposals. She serves on the section of the National Policy Forum which deals with "Work, Pension and Equality", but ideas will be welcome from those attending the discussion meeting on any key issues which they would like Labour to pursue. Harry Barnes will take notes from people's contributions and submit those ideas which are generally supported to the appropriate National Policy Forum Groups. Anyone wishing to submit their own ideas directly can themselves use this link. 

Dawn is a Labour Councillor for Beeston Rylands, Broxtowe Labour Party Co-Chair and an active socialist, feminist and trade unionist.
