Alison was a Derby City Councillor and Cabinet member until 2016; she's a member of the East Midlands Labour Party Regional Board and stood as Labour Candidate for Mid-Derbyshire in the recent General Election - reducing the Tory majority and increasing the Labour vote by 5,759. Relevant to her topic, she is very much aware that Labour is setting up a Taskforce to look into tackling problems which have arisen in former coal mining areas such as North Derbyshire and will lead a discussion on how the questions of jobs and investments can best be addressed.
